NEWS

Herb BielawaAn 80th year celebration of the composer’s music was held at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Berkeley, CA, February 7, 2010. The program included Odyssey for pipe organ by Sandra Soderlund, Essay for String Orchestra by Villa Sinfonia, Sitting on the Beach for speaking pianist by Monique Copper, Brass Session by Brass Works, Sojourner Songs by San Francisco Choral Artists and the premiere of the new work Double Speak for Sounds New (SoundsNewUS.edu).

PREMIERES

Odyssey for pipe organ was introduced by Soderlund May 9, 2009, Methuen (MA) Memorial Music Hall.

PERFORMANCES

Ants for violin, piano, and soprano was performed October 17-18, 2009, by Brooke Aird, Miles Graber, and Anna Carol Dudley, for the “Harvest of Song,” Berkeley Arts Center, CA.

PUBLICATIONS

Seven new choral SATB works for the Unitarian service, by Yelton Rhodes Music.

RECORDINGS

In Concert: Composers in Collaboration, includes Seque a Quatro for flute, clarinet, violin, and cello; Beauport Classical BC2802. Music Among Friends, includes A Critical Success, for SATB and violin; Choral Artists.
