Isaac Brockshus is pursuing a B.M. in Composition at the University of Northern Iowa School of Music in Cedar Falls, where his principal teachers are Jonathan Schwabe and Alan Schmitz. In addition to his studies at UNI, Isaac was accepted to a select summer composition course at the Freie Universität Berlin to study with Professor Sam Adler. Isaac has received many accolades for his work both as a composer and pianist.
His creative energies and commanding stage presence netted him the People's Choice Award in UNI’s Spotlight Series Competition. As part of Boston Brass’s celebration of their 25th anniversary, the acclaimed group premiered a piece of Isaac’s (entitled Rodomontade). In his more experimental compositions, Isaac is seeks to forge new avenues of musical expression, a pursuit best exemplified by his innovative senior thesis project entitled "Musical Eating and Culinary Listening: Composing with Sounds and Flavors." Active in his community and university, Isaac remains committed to the enrichment of the lives of others through music.
