PREMIERES

Oswego City Band Suite (Bossa, Hymn Variations, March) Oswego (NY) City Band conducted by Don Goodness on 8/25/10.

PERFORMANCES

Celebration Overture by Northern Symphonic Winds conducted by Scott LaVine at the NYSSMA Winter Conference in Rochester, NY on 12/5/09.  Pop Suite by Duan Fu-Hsuan Euphonium Tuba Quartet at the National Recital Hall in Taipei, Taiwan on 3/19/10.  Concertino for Tuba and Piano at the Crane School of Music in Potsdam, NY on 4/10/10.  Recent Rulings (9 Songs for Soprano and Piano) at the Crane School of Music in Potsdam, NY on 5/1/10.  Brass Quintet No. 1 by Riverside Brass Quintet in Gouverneur, NY on 9/12/10.


 

2010

NEWS

On May 2, 2009, the Crane School of Music in SUNY Potsdam, NY, presented a recital in honor of Art Frackenpohl’s 85th birthday, consisting of 11 compositions ranging from a 1948 clarinet sonatina to a 2009 brass quintet. New compositions by the composer include Two Pentatonic Hymn Settings (‘Nettleton’ and ‘St. Brendan’s’) and 29 piano pieces from late beginning to intermediate levels.

PREMIERES

The Student Brass Quintet presented Intro and Fanfare, May 2, 2009, SUNY Potsdam, NY.

PERFORMANCES

Waltz for Jane was presented October 20, 2008, by guitarist Dave Frackenpohl and bassist Robert Dickson for a faculty recital at Georgia State University, Atlanta. Pianist Julie Miller performed French Suite as music for six dancers at Faculty Dance Concerts at SUNY-Potsdam, November 14-16. Wilbur Raville led the Sherburne (NY) Community Chorus and Orchestra in a December 13 performance of Te Deum. “Scherzo for Strings” from Symphony No. 2 was presented September 25, 2009, by the Northern Lights Orchestra under the direction of Christian Hosmer, Canton, NY. Celebration Overture was performed December 6 by the Northern Symphonic Winds conducted by Scott Lavine, Rochester, NY.

RECORDINGS

Buffalo Ballads for Oboe and English Horn, American Folk Songs for English Horn and Piano; Heidi Huseman Dewally and John Mitton; Mark Records.


 

2009

During the 40th Annual Celebration of the Potsdam (NY) Brass Quintet in April 2008, it was announced that Arthur and Mary Ellen Frackenpohl had endowed a scholarship program for an Honors Brass Quintet. Recent compositions include Suite in Baroque Style for organ or piano and Eight Hymn Variations for organ or piano.

PERFORMANCES

Licorice Licks for clarinet choir was heard in an April 19, 2008, performance at Nazareth College, Rochester, NY; also on April 19, Variations on a March by Shostakovich was presented on a faculty recital at SUNY Potsdam, NY. Tangoletto for Harp Ensemble was heard April 20, in Syracuse, NY. Mass for Choir and Orchestra was presented June 4 by the Westwood (CA) Methodist Church, in a performance directed by Gina Shaw. Brian Doyle led the Crane Symphonic Band in a concert which included American Folk Song Suite, October 1, at SUNY Potsdam.
