The composer writes, “Liquid Amber received an Honorary Mention in the 35th International Contests of Music and Sound Art Electroacoustics of Bourges in the works for multimedia category. I also had a five-week residency at the Montalvo Arts Center in Saragota, CA, in mid-December 2007 through mid-January 2008.”
PERFORMANCES
Raw Data was presented at the Sonic Residues Festival, Stony Brook University, NY April 29-May 12, 2008. Liquid Amber and Arctic Ice were heard October 2-12 at PIXILERATIONS [v.5]: Fragments & (W)holes, Providence, RI. Fountain was included in the 20th Century Forum of the Garden of Memory Walk-Through Event #11, Chapel of Chimes, Piedmont, CA. Arctic Winds was heard as part of the Inclusive Voices Healing the Divide: International Women’s Electroacoustic Listening Room Project, 7th Annual Women in New Music Festival, Cal State Fullerton.

Arctic Winds was introduced October 21, 2007, at Mills College in a concert featuring Center for Contemporary Music (CCM) and California Institute for the Arts (CalArts) Composers, San Francisco, CA.

Works performed throughout 2007 include System Test (fire and ice) at CalArts, Redcat, Los Angeles, CA; Fizz at Festival International d’art acousmatique, “Nuit Blanche,” Paris; Desertscapes: “Painted Pictures,” Vox Musica vocal ensemble directed by Daniel Paulson, Sacramento, CA; Motor Rhythms, Electro Acoustic Revue (EAR), Project Arts Centre, Dublin, Ireland; and Distant Thunder: Free Play Six: Listening Chamber, electro-acoustic music from around the world, Grand Valley State University, Allendale, MI.

Maggi Payne recently appeared on the NewMusicBox, American Music Center’s website on the topic of “music informed by science.” Between December 15, 2006, and February 15, 2007, she will present a two-month sound installation (Santa Fe) in the Atrium Sound Space at the College of Santa Fe, NM.
Performances
Molecular Nanotechnology was heard at the 36th Festival Synthèse 2006, in Bourges, France, while Motor Rhythms was heard at the 2006 San Francisco Tape Music Festival, ODC Theater. An Ear to the Earth, A Festival of Music, Sound, and Ecology featured a performance of Apparent Horizon, at the Electronic Music Foundation, NY, NY. Performances of the composer’s works were also included in Voices on the Edge: International Women’s Electroacoustic Listening Room Project; the Fifth Annual Women in New Music Festival; and in performance at Cal State Fullerton; studio 1; BIMhuis in the Muziekgebouw, Amsterdam; Beijing, and Shanghai.

Women Take Back the Noise includes “ReCycle;” Ubuibi (3 CD compilation). Overheard and Rendered includes the soundscape “It’s Elemental;” and/OAR compilation. Points of Entry Volume 1 includes “Of All;” by flutist Nina Assimakopoulos; Capstone Records.
