2009
Speed is the organist at the Des Moines (IA) Masonic Consistory and St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Des Moines. He is Professor Emeritus of the Humanities at Grand View College and taught in the Des Moines Senior College in 2008.
PREMIERES
Petite Suite for Flute and Organ was introduced by Debbie Franks and William Ness; the same performers also played Lyric Piece. Organist Ron Flug gave the premiere of Cantabile for Organ as well as a performance of Prelude on ‘Bishopthorpe’.
PERFORMANCES
Anticipation on ‘Veni, Emanuel’ was performed by organist David Raymond; organist Marvin Johns presented Cantilene; and organists David Pickering and Arlene Linder Small gave a performance of Was Gott tut.
2007
Premieres
Debra Franks and William Ness introduced Suite for Flute and Organ.
Performances
Was Gott tut received performances from organists Marilyn Mason, David Pickering, and Thomas Curry. Suite on Christmas Carols was presented by David Pickering at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Des Moines, IA. Pickering also performed Cantilene in Omaha, NE, and in Independence, MO. Organist Marvin Johns performed selections from Three English Hymntunes.
