Arts Management Summer Internship at the Kennedy Center

Sigma Alpha Iota Philanthropies, Inc. is pleased to announce the availability of an Internship for a member in good standing of Sigma Alpha Iota at the DeVos Institute for Arts Management at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC during the summer months. This internship will be approximately 10 weeks long, from late May through early August.

The Intern will receive, through Sigma Alpha Iota Philanthropies, Inc., a stipend of $2,400 at the outset of her internship to help defray living costs in Washington, DC. It will be the Intern’s responsibility to provide her own transportation to and from Washington, and her housing and meals during the period of the Internship.  (Upon request, the DeVos Institute can provide links and information on finding reasonably-priced housing.) There will be no additional financial support from Sigma Alpha Iota Philanthropies, Inc.

Details of the Internship

1. The decision on all internship applications is solely the responsibility of the DeVos Institute for Arts Management at the Kennedy Center. Sigma Alpha Iota Philanthropies, Inc. will not participate in any way in the application review and selection process.

2. The Internship will be for a period of approximately 10 weeks during the summer.  Details about the exact dates of each year’s program will be available on the DeVos Institute’s website.

3. Internship assignments are full-time, averaging from 37.5-40 hours a week. The Summer 2012 internship will be a placement with the National Symphony Orchestra, with which opportunities include work with Operations, the Summer Music Institute, and more. Detailed descriptions of the placement opportunities are available at the  DeVos Institute’s website.  Applicants will have the opportunity to list three internships of interest on the DeVos Institute application form; the winner’s assignment will depend on the interests and qualifications of the individual Intern.
