Composers BureauDinos ConstantinidesBiography Dinos Constantinides' works have been performed throughout the world, including premiere performances with the American Symphony Orchestra at Avery Fisher Hall and Alice Tully Hall, and the Annapolis Chamber Orchestra at Carnegie Hall. His music is recorded by Orion Master Recordings, Crest Records, Capstone Records, and Vestige Recordings, and published in the United States, Greece, and Mexico. Vienna Modern Masters of Vienna, Austria has released four CD's including his symphonic music, and the Louisiana Composers Guild has released a CD which includes his flute concerto. Two new CDs include excerpts from his opera Antigone which was premiered by the Baton Rouge Opera in March 1993. Constantinides is the recipient of many grants, commissions, and awards, including numerous ASCAP Standard Awards, First Prizes in the 1981 Brooklyn College International Chamber Opera Competition and the 1985 First Midwest Chamber Opera Theatre Conference, as well as the 1985 American New Music Consortium Distinguished Service Award. His first opera INTIMATIONS was the recipient of two national awards for which Boris Goldovsky was an adjudicator. He has also been awarded the 1989 Governor's Lifetime Achievement Award for the State of Louisiana and the City of Baton Rouge 1992 Mayor-President's Award for Excellence in the Arts. In 1994 he was honored with a Distinguished Teacher White House Commission on Presidential Scholars. Constantinides studied at the Greek Conservatory in Athens, Juilliard School in New York, and the Universities of Indiana, Brandeis, and Michigan State. He holds a Ph.D. in composition and has studied violin with Dorothy Delay, Ivan Galamian, and Josef Gingold. Dinos Constantinides is presently a distinguished Boyd Professor and head of Composition at Lousiana State University School of Music, conductor of the LSU New Music Ensemble, and Music Director of the Louisiana Sinfonietta.
