Jerry Ulrich
Biography
Composer Jerry Ulrich, Director of Choral Activities at the Georgia Institute of Technology, has recently been awarded the ASCAP Award for the 2006-07 academic year. Dr. Ulrich’s thirty published compositions are in the catalogs of GIA, Colla Voce, Hinshaw, Kjos, Abingdon, DaCapo
UK
and Yelton Rhodes Music.
Recent premiere performances of commissioned works include Journey of the Magi (text by T.S. Eliot) by the Gay Gotham Chorus in The Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Times Square (Jon Babcock, conductor), Harpenden Psalms for organ at St. Gile’s Cathedral Edinburgh (Robert Crowley, organist), Why, Oh Why? by the Luther College Nordic Choir (Craig Arnold, conductor), To Sing God’s Praise (hymn tune MUNSEY) by the Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church, Johnson City, TN, and Sing, Kindred Voices performed by the Georgia Tech Glee Club.
He has recently accepted commissions for the
University
of
Minnesota Men
’s Chorus, George Washington University Singers, and Canta Libra, a professional chamber ensemble in
New York
.
