Biography
Sarah Fuller Hall composes and arranges music in a variety of genres. Her works include symphonic and chamber instrumental compositions, choral and solo vocal works, stage works, and teaching materials. She has been composing since an early age, winning her first composition prize in 9th grade, then composing and arranging for her high school concert band, jazz band, and choral ensemble. In college at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, she studied composition with Scott Meister and Errol Gay. Her memberships include Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society, Music Educator's National Conference, and of the ASU chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota Music Fraternity; this organization awarded her a Ruby Sword of Honor and a national scholarship. Ms. Hall holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in music theory and composition. After six years of college teaching, she obtained certification in music education and presently teaches in the public schools of Rowan County, North Carolina. She is the Administrative Director of the Salisbury School of Music.
Ms. Hall's works include Bravura for trumpet and orchestra, commissioned for the Salisbury Symphony's 20th anniversary, and the opera The Ransom of Red Chief, based on the O. Henry story by the same title. The Ransom of Red Chief was performed by Opera Carolina in their tour of North and South Carolina in the spring of '98.
