Wallace De Pue

Biography

photo, Wallace De PueWallace De Pue earned his Ph.D. in music composition and theory at Michigan State University. In 1966, he joined the faculty of Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. He retired in 1998.

Approximately 55 of his works (for nearly all media) have been published. Four of his operas have been produced: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, (recorded by Oceans Records, Los Gatos, CA.), Something Special (televised several times), and The True Story of the Three Little Pigs (published by MMB, St. Louis). The Wonderful Witch of Oz, his latest opera, is written on the subject of ecology and aimed at preschool children. Dr. De Pue has won 21 consecutive ASCAP awards. His works have won awards at both the state and national levels. At present, Dr. De Pue owns a publishing company known as Picardie Court Publications. On March 5, 2006, Dr. De Pue was honored on the annual American Masters Concert Series in Hamilton, Ohio. Maestro Paul Stanbery and his Hamilton/Fairfield Symphony and Chorale did an entire afternoon of performances of Dr. De Pue’s music. In 2007, the symphony’s board of directors nominated Dr. De Pue’s work for the Pulitzer Prize in Music.
