Chapter Outreach Grants
(formerly Chapter Seed Money Grants)
For Alumnae and College Chapters
General Chapter Outreach Grants may be awarded to chapters under the following conditions:
- The grant must be in support of an outreach project developed and carried out by the chapter for the musical enrichment of the campus or community beyond the membership of SAI.
- The grant will be for a maximum of $500, and will in no case be for more than half the total cost of the project.
- No more than one grant will be awarded to a chapter for a particular project.
- The grant may not be used for scholarships or tuition.
Examples of projects for which General Chapter Outreach Grants have been awarded:
- Workshop on vocal techniques for children's choirs
- 2-day residency by a woman composer
- Music materials for an Appalachian settlement school.

Circle of Music, Early Childhood Classes
- Epsilon Pi Chapter, Truman State University - $500 Pi C Province
Choral Fest
- Sigma Phi Chapter, Louisiana State University - $300 Omega A Province
Adopt a Student Scholarship Program
Music Therapy Chapter Outreach Grants may be awarded to support projects dealing specifically with the field of Music Therapy. These grants are not intended for use towards scholarships or tuition. The same general conditions outlined above for General Chapter Outreach Grants apply to the Music Therapy grants. These grants will be administered by the Music Therapy Project Director, who should be consulted for guidance in preparing a grant application.
String Chapter Outreach Grants may be awarded to support projects that promote string music programs and string performance. These grants are not intended for use towards scholarships or tuition. The same general conditions outlined for the General Chapter Outreach Grants apply to the String grants. These grants will be administered by the SAI Strings Project Director, who should be consulted for guidance in preparing a grant application.
- Awarded Summer 2007
- Epsilon Pi Chapter - $500 Pi C Province
To assist in providing a weekend of string music activities
to public school string students in an area near Truman College in Kirksville, MO that does not support a local school-sponsored string program
- Fort Worth Alumnae Chapter - $350 Kappa C Province
To assist in underwriting a Cultural Exchange Concert and Master Class activities in May with guest Hungarian violinist, Anna Mersey.
- Kappa Omega Chapter - $190 Gamma B Province
To assist in providing funding toward the purchase of music for the development of a chamber music program for string students who would otherwise have no other performance outlet at Elmhurst College.
