Alice Jordan
Alice Jordan works at home in Des Moines, IA. In 1999,
her arangement of
America the Beautiful was heard
with the Des Moines Children's Choruses at the Des Moines
Convention Center, Eugene Wilson, conductor, and Lois
Harms, pianist, at the inauguration of Gov. Tom Vilsack
(televised live on IPT), Jan. 5; with all massed choirs
and audience at Drake University, Joseph Giunta, conductor,
Marcia Hintz, Susan Ihnen, and Sara Otto, pianists, for
the Valley High School Grammy Signature School Award Concert,
May 13; and with the International Festival Chorus and
the Des Moines Symphony at the Iowa State Capitol, under
Giunta, for the 4th of July Pops Concert, July 3. Church
Street Music (Van Ness Press) has published her arrangement
of the French carol
What is this Lovely Fragrance?
for SATB choir and organ. The Summer 1999 issue of
The
Goldfinch, a publication of the Iowa Historical Society,
included an article about Jordan by Anna Vorm, in "A Century
of Women Composers."
Performances
On Jan. 24, 1999, Eric Ohlssohn and Larry Smith presented
Aria for Oboe and Organ in recital at the First
Presbyterian Church in Tallahassee, FL. At Central Presbyterian
Church, organist Marilyn Mason performed
