Annual American Composers Update

Bruce J. Taub

SAI National Arts Associate Bruce J. Taub lives in New York, NY, where he works at C. F. Peters Corp., Music Publishers.

Premieres

The University of California, Davis's Empyrean Ensemble, Ross Bauer, Music Director, introduced the piano quartet . . . the limit of the flame . . ., Oct. 23, 1998. At a North/South Consonance Concert, Lisa Stokes Chin, bass viol, gave the first performance of Bassed On, Mar. 7, 1999 in New York, NY. On Apr. 14 and Apr. 19, 1999, the Stony Brook Contemporary Chamber Players, led by Ray DesRoches, presented Lady Mondegreen Bangs the Can!, for percussion ensemble, at SUNY Stony Brook and in New York,, NY. A Paris Conservatory of Music program, Mar. 26, 1999, included the premiere of In the Light of Present Reality, with the Trio Maurice Durufle.

Performances

A program in Les Lillas, France included Preludes (2), for piano, and Sonata for Solo Viola, with pianist Magali Goimard and violist Gilles Deliege, Mar. 25, 1999. At the Paris Conservatory of Music, Mar. 26, 1999, Goimard played Preludes (2), and the Trio Maurice Durufle performed In the Light of Present Reality. Soprano Antoinette Arnold and pianist Anthony Spano presented The Jewish Cemetery at Newport, Apr. 3, 1999 at Northwestern Univ.
