Diane Thome
Diane Thome** serves as Professor at the University of
Washington School of Music, in Seattle.
Premieres
The Bremerton Symphony, under Charles Bontrager, commissioned
and introduced
Celestial Canopy, Nov. 6, 1999.
In addition, Thome holds a commission for a Feb. 24, 2000
premiere of
. . . like a seated swan, an electronic/viola
piece with the Seattle Symphony and violist Dorothy Shapiro.
UnfoldEntwine, a computer-realized solo work commissioned
by the University of Michigan Dance Company, choreographed
by Jessica Fogel, was produced first there, at the 1998
International Computer Music Conference, Oct. 3, 1998.
Performances
After the premiere,
UnfoldEntwine was heard in
1999 at a Contemporary Group Concert, Shannon Hobbs, choreographer,
at the University of Washington, Mar. 8; at the Women's
History Festival at the University of North Texas, in
Denton, Mar. 23; and again at the University of Michigan,
Mar. 29 and Apr. 23-24.
Bright Air/Brilliant Fire,
for flute and computer-realized sound, had performances
by Paul Taub at Western Washington Univ., in Bellingham,
Nov. 12, 1998; by the composer at The Cornish Coll. and
the Jack Straw Foundation, in Seattle, Nov. 20 and 22,
1998; at the International Computer Music Festival, in
Seoul, Korea, Dec. 3, 1998; by Sarah Bassingthwaighte,
in a lecture/concert at the University of Washington,
June 5, 1999; and at the Australasian Computer Music Conference,
at Victoria Univ., in Wellington, New Zealand, July 10,
1999. In 1999, performances of the solo electronic work
Masks of Eternity occurred in Seattle at the University
of Washington, Feb. 23; and at the ArtsEdge Festival,
choreographed by Hobbs, June 27. Pianist Janet Anderson
played
Pianismus at the Seattle Art Museum, Oct.
17, 1998.
