Annual American Composers Update
Elizabeth Grieger Wiegand
SAI Patroness Elizabeth Grieger Wiegand** makes her home
in Michigan City, IN, where she volunteers at St. Anthony
Memorial Hospital as a music therapist in the Transitional
Care and Rehabilitation Department, and chairs the annual
Michigan City Cystic Fibrosis fund-raising concert. On
Aug. 28, the combined units at the hospital organized
a luau where she presented selections from her compositions
on the harp. She also is the state chair of International
Music Relations for the Indiana Federation of Music Clubs.
In June 1999, she gave a workshop in Kokomo, at the Indiana
Federation of Music Clubs state convention, where the
state board surprised her with the national first place
award in the International Music Relations Project. She
was awarded a 1999-2000 ASCAP Popularity Award, her seventh,
five of them consecutive.
Performances
On Aug. 15, 1999, a program at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital
included several of her works, with Wiegand playing organ
and cello. In 1999, she also played cello compositions
at the New Carlisle Community Church, Aug. 22, and organ
pieces at St. Williams Church, Honalei Bay, HI, Sept.
5. She performed some of her piano music at the 11th annual
Cystic Fibrosis Fund Raiser Music Concert, held at the
Marquette Mall, in Michigan City, Oct. 30, 1999.
