Jan Bach
Jan Bach is Distinguished Research Professor Emeritus
at the Northern Illinois Univ. School of Music, in DeKalb.
He retired July 1, 1998 but has remained on the faculty
as a part-time Theory-Composition instructor.
Premieres
On July 9, 1998,
Pilgrimage, for trumpet and piano,
premiered at the Interlochen Center for the Arts, with
Ramon Parcells and Robert Conway.
Foliations, for
brass quintet, was heard first at the Lieksa (Finland)
Brass Conference, July 25-28, 1998 with the Stockholm
Chamber Brass.
Performances
Liam Teague soloed in
Concerto for Steelpan and Orchestra
with the Peoria Symphony, Mar. 7; with the Northwest Indiana
Symphony, May 20; and with the St. Louis Symphony, Nov.
28-29. On May 17, a Chicago Art Institute program included
Eisteddfod, for flute, viola, and harp, with the
Dillosande Ensemble. On Sept. 19, 1998, Guy Bordo conducted
the Richmond (IN) Symphony in
Variations on a Theme
of Brahms.
