Joelle Wallach
Joelle Wallach lives in New York, NY.
Currently, she has worked on commissions for String
Quartet 1999, from the Arizona Friends of Chamber
Music, for the Muir Quartet; and From the Almanac
of Last Things, from Paul Sperry, for The Joy
of Singing. Other new works are A Revisitation
of Myth, a cycle of four songs for piano, viola,
and medium voice; Moonlight in the Woods and Vacant
Cities, a lyrical diptych for trumpet and chamber
orchestra; and Chirm, six songs of insect sexuality.
Premieres
On Dec. 12, 1999, Loveletter (Postmark
San Jose), a "tiny tender tuba rhapsody" for euphonium
and string orchestra, was played first by the San Jose
(CA) Chamber Orchestra, Barbara Day Turner, conductor
and music director, at Le Petit Trianon in San Jose.
Performances
Clara Longstreth will lead The New Amsterdam
Singers in Orison of Ste. Theresa, for SATB choir
and strings, Mar. 2 and 6, 2000, at The Citicorp Center,
New York, NY.
