Annual American Composers Update
Ruth Brush
Residing in Bartlesville, OK, Ruth Brush** gives workshops
for music teachers, and she coaches and presents programs
of talented youth. During National Music Week at the Washington
Park Mall, she presented a piano program including works
by Radie Britain, Judith Lang Zaimont, and Gardner Read.

Organist Anne Nixon premiered
Pastorale in Raymore,
MO, Jan. 1999, and at the Hyechka Music Club, in Tulsa,
OK, Nov. 1998. Heard first at the International Mozart
Festival, June 17, 1999 in Bartlesville, were
The Old
Trail, for flute and piano, with Bruce Brice;
The
Meadowlarks, with Leslie Wilson, coloratura soprano;
and
Do you Understand?, with Gail Barnes, soprano,
all accompanied by Brush.
Performances
Other works performed at the International Mozart Festival
were
Songs of Oklahoma, sung by Robert Walter with
Charles Hinman accompanying;
I Shall not live in Vain,
My Life is Filled with Music, and
The Fountain
Sprite, all by soprano Frankie James and accompanist
Robert Heckman; and
Trio, for violin, cello, and
piano, with Domer Dougherty, Spencer Prentiss, and Brush.
Soloist Suzanne McQuillen and chorus members sang
Songs
of Oklahoma, during Oklahoma Heritage Week in the
schools, and at various events in Wetumka, Mounds, and
other cities.
