Scott Robbins
In Aug. 1998, SAI National Arts Associate
Scott Robbins became Assistant Professor of Composition
and Music Theory at the Converse Coll. School of Music,
in Spartanburg, SC. He presented a theoretical paper
on George Crumb's
Madrigals at the SCI Region
VI conference, Feb. 1998, and at the OK Theory Roundtable,
Oct. 1997. The Moyzes Quartet has recorded
Fortressed
House, for string quartet, for a future release
by
MMC
Recordings.
Premieres
At the SCI Region VI conference, in
Arlington, TX, David Bessinger premiered Two Movements
for Marimba, Feb. 1998. The Gregg Smith Singers
presented Name Me This River at a New Choral
Music Reading Session, July 1998 in Saranac Lake, NY.
Performances
The Southeast Composers League Annual
Forum, held at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte,
included Maiden Voyage, with Jeff Calissi and
Caryl Conjer. Led by Carmen Tellez, the Indiana Univ.
Contemporary Vocal Ensemble sang Sliver Moon
at the SCI National Conference, Apr. 1998 in Bloomington,
IN.
