Alfonso Montecino
In San Jose, Costa Rica, SAI National Arts Associate Alfonso
Montecino was one of the judges at the Central American
piano competition, Oct. 19-27, 2000. He gave master classes
in San Jose and at Houston Baptist University, Oct. 28
and 30, 2000. Sonora Recordings has released a CD (see
Recordings) with his piano performances of Beethoven's
Diabelli Variations, the Stravinsky
Serenade,
and his own
Composition for the Left Hand.
Premieres
On Oct. 7, 2000, the Latinamerican Quartet introduced
Montecino's
String Quartet No. 2, at Carnegie-Mellon
University, in Pittsburg, PA.
