Premieres

On Apr. 29, 2000, Daniel Dorff's Three Fun Fables for Narrator and Orchestra had its first performance, with Susan Spafford and the Philadelphia Orchestra, conducted by Wolfgang Sawallisch. On Sept. 25, 2000, Goldilocks and The Three Bears, for narrator and mixed Octet was heard first at the Minnesota Orchestra Kinder Konzerts with narrator Joanna Cortright and 48-50 performers (no conductor). Astronaut Kenneth Reightler narrated the premiere of Blast Off!, for narrator and orchestra, with the Haddonfield Symphony under Daniel Hege, Mar. 31, 2000. On Mar. 27, 2000, Three Mysteries for Violin and Percussion was played first by Marion Judish and Terry Vermillion, at St. Cloud (MN) State Univ. The premiere of Yuki No Uta, for voice and piano, occurred May 25, 2000, with soprano Yukiko Ishida in Suntory Hall, in Tokyo. The NFA convention, held Aug. 18, 2000 in Columbus, OH, introduced Sonatine de Giverny, for piccolo and piano, with Jan Gippo and Martin Amlin.
