Annual American Composers Update
Anthony Iannaccone
Anthony Iannaccone was one of the five finalists selected
from 1,151 entrants from 62 countries in the 2001 Masterprize
competition organized by the BBC, EMI, and the London
Symphony Orchestra. The Aaron Copland Fund has awarded
him a grant to record six of his orchestral works on
the Albany Records label.
Performances
In May-June 2001 in Ostrava, the Czech Republic, he
conducted his own Waiting for Sunrise on the Sound,
Symphony No. 3, as well as Copland's Appalachian
Spring, with the Janacek Philharmonic. Under the
baton of Daniel Harding, the London Symphony Orchestra
played Waiting for Sunrise on the Sound, October
10, 2001, at the Barbican Centre.
