Annual American Composers Update
Elizabeth Ruth Beeson**
Elizabeth Ruth Beeson played piano, percussion or synthesizer
for 12 musical productions and four string-ensemble
performances in Houston. In addition, she was piano
accompanist for Houston's First Baptist Academy, Houston
Children's Chorus and the First United Methodist Church
children's and youth choirs. As an organist, she has
worked at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Our Lady of Walsingham
Catholic Church, all in Houston. She also plays piano
at Holly Hall Retirement Home and coaches professional
pianists. On August 17, 2001, Beeson became chairman
of the William Byrd Music Institute in Houston. On August
17, 2001, her orchestral recording The Days in New
England, produced and written by Beeson with the
composer at the piano, was heard at the home of Philip
and Denise Bahr, in Houston. The book The Beeson
School of Music was published in honor of Beeson's
piano student Bryce E. Eakin, June 15, 2001.
Performances
On June 16, 2001, Beeson performed her piano works
Russian Madness and The Seventh Trumpet
at the Park Laureate, in Houston.
