Geoffrey Gordon

The Paris-based Ensemble Aleph has commissioned a new work from Geoffrey Gordon to be given its world premiere performances in the United States and Europe during the 2002-03 season, with the Paris premiere at the Theatre Dunois. In 2002-03, the AVA Ensemble of Berlin will present Aria and Cadenza, for solo violin. Gordon was nominated for the 2000-01 Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Elise Stoeger Prize, recognizing achievement in chamber-music composition with a focus on works written in the last five years. Soprano Clare Lesser and pianist David Lesser will present the UK premiere of a new song cycle, Five Songs of Metamorphoses (fragments of Ovid and Hughes) during the 2002-03 season.
