Annual American Composers Update
Jan Krzywicki
"I continue to be active as conductor of Network
for New Music, Philadelphia, PA, conducting four concerts
a year, along with outreach programs. Network's first
CD will be released on Albany Records in October 2001
featuring works by Higdon, Primosch, Rands, and Thomas.
I also conducted a multi-media performance of Schoenberg's
Pierrot Lunaire for Temple University."
In 2001, SAI Friend of the Arts Jan Krzywicki had fellowships
at the Yaddo artists colony, in Saratoga Spring, NY,
May 18-June 17, and at the Millay Colony for the Arts,
July 2-28. He has received an ASCAP Standard Award.
Premieres
Nocturnals, for piano, was played first on Susan
Nowicki's recital, January 19, 2002 at Portland (OR)
State University.
Performances
At the Music Midst Us Festival/Society of Composers
Conference April 1, 2001, at the University of Kansas,
in Lawrence, Come to Me, for a cappella
choir, was performed. Apologue, for baritone
saxophone and piano, was played by Marshall Taylor and
Charles Abramovic at Temple University, in Philadelphia,
April 3, 2001. James Croft conducted Prelude, Fugue
and Chorale, for symphonic wind ensemble, at Florida
State University, November 1, 2001.
