Annual American Composers Update
Maggi Payne
Premieres
In November 2001, pianist Sarah Cahill premiered Maggi
Payne's Holding Pattern at Merkin Hall, in New
York, NY. White Turbulence, for four channel
electro-acoustic and visuals, was presented at Tonic,
also in New York. Desertscapes was sung first
by the San Francisco Girls Chorus. In 2001, Payne's
electro-acoustic work breaks/motors had its first performances
at the Fifth Annual Santa Fe International Festival
of Electro-Acoustic Music and at the San Francisco Electronic
Music Festival (SFEMF).
Performances
Jordan Belson's film Bardo, which uses Payne's
Moire, was performed at SIGGRAPH in Los Angeles,
CA. Apparent Horizon was played at the Ought-One
Festival, in Montpelier, VT, and at Waveform 2001, the
Australasian Computer Music Association Conference,
in Australia. In New York, NY, Wendy Rogers choreographed
Payne's Airwaves for her dance performance at
Joyce SoHo.
