Margaret Shelton Meier
Premieres
Margaret Shelton Meier's Eight by Emily
was introduced by Elizabeth Sanford, mezzo-soprano;
Jonathan Wright, violin; and Ana Maria Maldonado, cello
at Mt. San Antonio College, October 6, 2001, in Walnut,
CA. Organist Barbara Rogers gave the first performance
of The Spirit Descends, June 3, 2001 at Trinity
United Methodist Church in Minneapolis, MN.
Performances
Also at Trinity United Methodist Church,
Rogers played Trinity Toccata, for organ, June
18, 2001. In 2001, Celebration, Sorrow, Strength,
for soprano and piano, was performed by Deborah Kavasch
and Deon Nielsen-Price at the Church of the Lighted
Window in La Cañada, CA, January 21, and at a
NACUSA concert at El Camino (CA) College, March 23;
by Catherine Jensen and Rogers at the Dayton Avenue
Presbyterian Church Piano Dedication Concert, in St.
Paul, MN, October 7, and at a Northwestern College Faculty
Artist Concert, in Minneapolis, October 14.; and by
Jean Gothold and Frances Nobert, at a Whittier (CA)
College Faculty Musicale, September 18. The Mt. San
Antonio College Concert Choir, directed by Bruce Rogers,
sang Shepherds' Song at the Annual Wassail Dinners,
December 6-8, 2001. Nobert has presented the organ work
Romantic Passacaglia, on a twelve-tone theme,
many times this year, in Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Carolina,
and California.
