Anthony Iannaccone

Recently, Anthony Iannaccone has appeared as guest conductor or lecturer at the University of Indianapolis, Arizona State University, Ithaca (NY) College, the Kent (UK) Festival, and the University of Missouri-St. Louis.  Meet the Composer's Commissioning Music/USA 2002 program has awarded him a $12,000 commission to write a new work for woodwind quintet for a consortium of four woodwind quintets from four states:  the Camerata Quintet (IL), the Musical Arts Quintet (IN), the Van Buren Quintet (VA), and the Eastern Winds (MI), with premieres scheduled for fall 2003 and several subsequent performances extending through the 2003-04 season.

Premieres

Elegy for Clarinet and String Quartet was introduced by Kimberly Cole and the Eastern Michigan University String Quartet September 2002 in Pease Auditorium, Ypsilanti, MI.  Commissioned by the Tucson (AZ) Chamber Music Festival, Quintet for Clarinet and String Quartetpremiered with Richard Stoltzman and the Arianna String Quartet, November 13, 2002, at the Leo Rich Theater, in Tucson.Escapewas commissioned and presented by the Andover Symphony Orchestra in January 2003 at the Power Center for the Performing Arts, in Ann Arbor, MI. On November 16, 2002, Lawrence Doebler led the Ithaca College Choir in the first performance of The Soul's Experience, for SATB choir, commissioned for the choir.

Performances

Cole and the Arianna String Quartet played Quintet for Clarinet and String Quartet, December 2002 at the University of Missouri at St. Louis. In 2002, From Time to Time was heard with the Penn's Woods Orchestra, Gerardo Edelstein conducting, in State College, PA (July); with the Eastern Michigan University Orchestra, Kevin Miller conducting (February); and with the Bavarian Festival Orchestra, conducted by the composer, in Munich, Germany (August).  The Brno Quartet performed String Quartet No. 3 in Prague, the Czech Republic, January 2002.
