Alice Jordan
On August
24, 2002, Alice Jordan was inducted into the Iowa Women's
Hall of Fame, with Governor Thomas J. Vilsack
presiding. The Des Moines (IA) Vocal Arts Ensemble honored
her with printed, spoken, and floral tributes, December 14, 2001,
at St. Augustin's Catholic Church, including
a performance of her arrangement of Away in a Manger for TTBB
choir and organ or keyboard, with the men of the ensemble, Carol Stewart,
conductor, and Janice Weast, accompanist.
Performances
A concert at the First Congregational United Church
of Christ, in Eau Claire, WI,
April 21, 2002, with GarySchwartzhoff, Director of Music, and Judy Lies, organist,
featured six organ works and five choral compositions. Accompanied by organist Robert Luther, soprano
Janelle Disrud sang Psalm 103 (Bless
the Lord O My Soul), April
14, 2002, at a recital at the Zion
Lutheran Church
in Anoka, MN.
A Westminster Presbyterian Church Concert Series program, March
10, 2002, in Alexandria, VA, concluded with Take Joy Home (text
by JeanIngelow), with mezzo-soprano Susan McAdoo and pianist Brenda
Day.On Thanksgiving Day 2002
at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, in Des Moines,
organist Robert M. Speed
played How Beautiful the March of Days (Forest
Green).
