Dennis Kam
In addition to being Chair of the University
of Miami Music Theory and
Composition Department, Dennis Kam has been
the South Florida Youth Symphony Composer-in-Residence since fall
2001.
Premieres
As part of the gala opening night of Festival Miami,
the University of Miami
Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Thomas
Sleeper, introduced Symphony No. 1, September 22, 2001.
Performances
Prime Line, for flute, vibraphone, and piano,
was played by Mary Ellen Guzzio, Clarissa Borba, and Michael
Kregler at an International Society for
Contemporary MusicFestival at Florida
International University
on April 18, 2002. Etude 1a (Fanfares) was on a program
of the South Florida Youth Symphony at Miami-Dade Community College,
March 17, 2002, with the composer conducting.
