Joyce Grill*
Retired from teaching at the University of Wisconsin-La
Crosse (UWLC), Joyce Grill remains active as a recitalist and accompanist. She is active giving workshops and clinics to
student and piano teacher groups across the country. In May, she conducted the Plymouth (NH) State
College Piano Monster Concert, which included several of her compositions. In October, she presented her new duet collection,
Four Hand Fun, at the Warner Bros. Showcase at the World Piano
Pedagogy Conference in Las Vegas
as well as performing selections from a new edition of piano pieces
by Dave Brubeck. She was commissioned
by the St. Croix Valley Music Teachers Association to write a duet
for their Monster Concert held in November, and has been commissioned
by the East Valley Music Teachers Association (Phoenix area) for a
duet to be performed in February
She will present selections from her newest piano collections
at the Warner Bros. Showcase at the MTNA National Convention in Salt
Lake City in March 2003.

Played first at Monster Piano Concerts were one-piano
four-hand duets Maple Syrup Rag, at the Plymouth State College
in May; and Circus March, in the St.
Croix Valley
concert in October
Performances
Grill's song cycle T'was
My One Glory (poems of Emily Dickinson) were on a program at the
New Music Festival, held at UWLC in November, with Jean Saladino,
voice, and the composer at the piano.
Tim Schorr and Grill performed Four
Hand Fun, for one piano, four hands, at a La Crosse Area Music
Teachers Association meeting.
