The 2003 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 95, Number 2 Karl KorteOn >April 22, 2002, Karl Korte's Four Songs of Experience (text by Blake), for women's voices, received Top Honors and Special Recognition in the international Waging Peace Through Singing competition (sponsored by the Carlton Savage Endowment for International Relations and Peace, University of Oregon). PremieresShiki (the Four Seasons), a cantata on Japanese texts, for choir, soloists, and a digital score will premiere March 24, 2003, under the direction of SAI Virginia Davidson. PerformancesAt a New York Flute Club program at CAMI Hall, December 9, 2001, Distant Pentachords, for flute, windchimes, and digital sound, had a performance with flutist Karla Moe. Four Songs of Experience was sung by Emma Willard School choral groups, Russell Locke, director, March 22, 2002. The New York Treble Singers, led by Davidson, presented Sappho Says, for women's voices, mezzo-soprano, flute, and piano, October 18, 2002. Further Information
