Scene 1 from The Newport Rivals had its orchestral premiere at a New York City Opera Showcasing American Composers program, May 9, 2002, with George Manahan conducting. PerformancesBesides its Austrian premiere, Tartuffe was produced by the University of Southern Maine, in Portland, April 20, 2002; by Southeastern Louisiana University March 20-23; and by the University of Arizona, in Tuscon, April 10-22, 2001. Songs of the Slave, a suite from the opera John Brown, presented by the Claremont Colleges, March 2-3, 2002, and by the Los Angeles Concert Orchestra with Santa Monica College Chorale and First United Methodist Choir, James E. Smith, conductor, June 2, 2002, will be performed by the University of North Texas chorus and orchestra, under Randall K. Horton, February 22, 2003. Sean Deibler led the Music Group of Philadelphia in Singing Is So Good A Thing: An Elizabethian Recreation, a cantata for choir and orchestra, May 17-19, 2002. In June-July 2002, the German Radio Choir, conducted by André Thomas, toured Germany with Blow Ye The Trumpet. Haydn's Return, Variations on the "Farewell" Symphony was played by the Peninsula Symphony Orchestra, under Mitchell Klein, May 10-11, 2002, in San Mateo, CA.
