H. Leslie Adams
In 2002, H. Leslie Adams had a three-day residency at Tufts University,
in Medford, MA, April 1-3; and a two-day residency at Minersville
University, in Lancaster, PA, April 8-9.
Performances
The Tufts University residency included two all-Adams concerts, one
vocal and one instrumental, presented by the Department of Music,
with four student vocal soloists, a faculty pianist, and the Tufts
Chamber Singers. The Minersville University residency culminated in
an all-Adams recital of vocal solo and choral works, with student
vocalists, a faculty pianist, and the University Choir. In Detroit,
MI, April 5, 2002, The National Association of Negro Musicians, Inc.
(NANM) Central Region Conference featured a two-hour all-Adams concert,
"H. Leslie Adams and His Music," with 12 student vocal soloists
and faculty pianists, from the University of Northern Iowa, Marygrove
College and Wayne State University. Two all-Adams programs of vocal
and instrumental works took place at the benefit for the Society of
Rehabilitation, in Painesville, OH, with the composer participating,
August 4, 2002.
