Leslie Bassett

Leslie Bassett's works being recorded for future release include Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Orchestra, with Clifford Leaman and the University of Michigan Symphony Orchestra, Kenneth Kiesler, conductor, for Equilibrium Records; and Sounds, Shapes and Symbols, with the University of Michigan Symphony Band, Michael Haithcock conductor.

Performances

A festival of Bassett's music on October 6-7, 2001, presented by artist members of Brave New Works, Chris Younghoon Kim, conductor, at the University of Michigan, in Ann Arbor, included String Quartet No. 4; Illuminations, for flute and piano; Duo Concertante, for saxophone and piano; Love Songs; Music for Cello and Piano; Pierrot Songs, for soprano and five instruments; Sounds Remembered, for violin and piano; Jade Garden, for soprano and piano; and Temperaments, for guitar.  On September 16, the inauguration concert of music on Bassett's Equilibrium Records recording (see Recordings) was given at the University of Michigan.
