The 2004 American Composers Update

Premieres

The Camerata Quintet (IL), the Musical Arts Quintet (IN), the Eastern Winds (MI), and the Van Buren Quintet (VA) are all scheduled to give performances of the composer's Woodwind Quintet No. 2 (Scenes After Hart Crane), as part of the Meet the Composers Commissioning Music/USA program. The Camerata Quintet premiered the work November 18, 2003, at Western Illinois University, and the Indiana, Michigan, and Virginia premieres will follow.

Performances

Lysistrata was performed May 25, 2003, in a program of Stravinsky, Hindemith, and Janacek, by the Bavarian Festival Orchestra (Munich) conducted by the composer. In November, From Time to Time was performed by the Dearborn (MI) Symphony Orchestra. Waiting for Sunrise on the Sound is scheduled to be performed by the Virginia Symphony, Jo Ann Falletta, conductor, on February 7, 2004. Escape will be presented in February by the Plymouth Symphony, Nan Washburn, conductor, and in April by the Eastern Michigan University Orchestra, under the direction of Kevin Miller.
