The 2004 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 96, Number 2 David UberDavid Uber received an ASCAP Composers' Award for the 44th consecutive year in 2003, and was also a guest conductor at the New York Annual Brass Conference in a program of his original compositions, April 11, Park Central Hotel, NY. Uber was listed in America's Registry of Outstanding Professionals (2003-2004) and Dance Magazine's 2003 Annual Directory. The International Trumpet Guild Journal listed 20th Century Published Sonatas by David Uber (20 works for solo trumpet and piano). He was commissioned to compose new solos for trombone and piano, which were included on a CD and video produced by the University of Osaka, Japan, released in Fall 2003. PremieresVisions received its premiere in 2003 at the White House Visitors Center by the U.S. Navy Band Brass Quartet. Nobuhiro Noguchi introduced Legend of Danby Mountain, Osaka, Japan, in July 2003. Give Me That Old Time Religion, for four trombones, was presented by Jamie Wehr at the ITA Convention, Winter Park, FL. PerformancesLegend of Sleeping Bear, for solo tuba, was performed in April 2003 by Don Butterfield, at the New York Brass Conference; also heard at the conference was Three Cantos for solo trumpet, presented by Jeff Jarvis. Other performances in 2003 included: Three Miniatures for three trombones, Velvet Bones, San Diego, CA; Skylines for bass trombone and piano, Douglas Yeo, University of Dayton Brass Festival; Three Cameos, for solo tuba and saxophone quartet, Kenneth Drobnek, solo tuba, Michigan State University; Octet, for eight trumpets, presented in performances directed by Kevin Eisensmith at Bowling Green State University and Indiana (PA) University; and Kaleidoscope, for large brass choir, Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA. Heard at the University of Arkansas were Sonata for Euphonium, performed by Corey Walker, and Signals for low brass trio. March of the Dinosaurs, for brass quintet, was heard at Davis (CA) Community Church.
