Elizabeth Ruth Beeson *

Active as performer and teacher during 2001-2003 in Houston, TX, Beeson played piano in preparation for several productions including The Music Man and Angels Aware; she was also pianist in a Contemporary Christian Band at Terrace United Methodist Church. On December 11, 2002, A Time to Remember was released, a music album of 20 all-original piano pieces with the composer performing at the piano. Beeson played organ, directed choir, and conducted an instrumental ensemble at Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Church in Houston in 2002-2003, for which she also arranged music for choir and instrumental groups. Her music school, formerly known as the William Byrd Music Institute, was renamed the Beeson School of Music on July 8, 2003. She has taught several courses in her school ranging from general and applied music in piano and voice to Music Literature and Church Music History. She also taught specialized courses in piano technique, keyboard harmony, ear training, and music appreciation. Choral, piano, and instrumental students from the Beeson School of Music performed a variety program at Treemont Retirement Home in Houston on August 23. Beeson was commissioned to submit her professional biographical information for "Who's Who in America" in March 2003.

Premieres

On March 23, 2003, Beeson directed a performance of her work Lord, Hear My Prayer (SATB, a cappella) at our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Church, Houston, TX.

Performances

The composer performed organ arrangements of her piano works Dorian Moonwalk and Hungarian Adagio at Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Church in January and February 2003. She performed her piano work Country Swing at First Baptist Academy in Houston, on May 15 and May 22; on May 22 she also performed The Seventh Trumpet. The piano work In Green Meadows, was performed August 23 in an arrangement for flute and piano at Treemont Retirement Home in Houston, by Juliana Missos, accompanied by Beeson.
