The 2004 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 96, Number 2 Emma Lou DiemerEmma Lou Diemer received her 40th ASCAP award in 2003. In June 2002, her Concerto in One Movement for Marimba was recorded by Nathan Daughtery and the Slovak Radio Symphony conducted by Joel Suben for release by C. Alan Publications. Her Concerto in One Movement for Organ and Chamber Orchestra was recorded in October 2003 by Marilyn Mason and the Czech National Symphony, conducted by Paul Freeman, for release on Albany Records. She gave a concert of her organ works at Grace Cathedral, San Francisco, in May 2002. PremiereBereden väg for Herran, was introduced by organist David Higgs at the American Guild of Organists National Convention, Philadelphia, PA, July 2002. Celebration was performed in September by organist Marian Ruhl Metson at California State University, Chico, CA. Ronald Horner performed Toccata for Timpani at Frostburg State University in October. Spirituals for Piano was first heard in a November performance by the composer at Faulkner Library, Santa Barbara, CA. PerformancesShe'll Be Comin' Round the Mountain was performed by the Dale Warland Singers, October 2002. Violist Felicia McFall, pianist Robert Young, and the Del Mar Chamber Music Players, presented Homage to Paderewski at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Santa Rosa, CA, in November. Mary Bredon conducted the Loyola University Concert Choir in A Feast for Christmas, Loyola University, Los Angeles, CA, December 2002. Various organ works were performed throughout 2003 by Frances Nobert at venues in California, Utah, and Korea. Concerto in One Movement for Organ, featuring organist Michele Johns with the Plymouth Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Nan Washburn, was heard in February 2003 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Plymouth, MI. Trio for Piano, Violin, and Cello, a piano trio ensemble with Stanley Hoffman, was performed in December at the Museum of American Pianos, New York, NY. PublicationsAria for String Orchestra, C.
