Elizabeth Lauer

For the eighth successive year, Lauer was program annotator for the five South Shore (CT) summer chamber music programs. For the third successive year, Lauer was presented in a solo piano recital at Donnell Library Auditorium, New York, NY. Besides her own work, Carousel (performed with pianist Margaret Mills), she played works of Bartok, Mozart, Chopin, and Brahms. The Music Committee of the Westport (CT) Public Library has engaged Lauer to present a program consisting entirely of her works on March 9, 2004. Lauer's wind quintet, L'Aube, was one of three finalists in the first "Piece of the Year" Competition, sponsored by the London Chamber Ensemble.

Premieres

L'Aube for wind quintet was first presented in London, England, June 15, 2003, by the London Chamber Ensemble, receiving a subsequent performance on November 2. On February 27, 2004, a performance of Entertainment for Piano Trio by the CAM Camp Trio, is scheduled in Southport, CT.

Performances

Carousel for pianists (variations on "All the Pretty Little Horses") was performed by Margaret Mills and the composer on June 16, 2003, at the Donnell Library Auditorium, New York, NY; the same piece is scheduled to be performed again by Mills and Lauer on February 15, 2004, at the Schubert Club, Stamford, CT, and on March 9, at the Westport (CT) Library Auditorium. L'Aube, for wind quintet, will be played by Prevailing Winds on the same program.
