Jan Bach

Jan Bach, along with many other previous winners of the BMI Student Composers Contest, was honored by BMI with an evening reception at the Plaza Hotel, New York, NY, June 7, 2003. Dr. Bach had recently returned from two weeks in Katashina, Japan (Gunma Prefecture), where he taught music classes and visited his daughter Eva, an assistant English teacher at the junior high school.

Premieres

Concerto for Tuba and Chamber Orchestra was premiered March 21, 2003, by Jay Hunsberger and the Florida West Coast Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Leif Bjoland.

Performances

Members of the Minnesota Orchestra presented Eisteddfod for flute, harp, and viola, on July 14, 2002, in Minneapolis, MN. Foliations was performed December 15, by the Florida Brass Quintet, in Sarasota, FL. Clarinetist Greg Barrett played the Sonata for Clarinet and Piano, in Dekalb, IL, on April 21, 2003, and in Norman, OK, June 6.
