The electroacoustic piece Fluid Dynamics (2002) premiered at Mills College in January 2003; a second electroacoustic piece, Distant Thunder (2003), premiered at Mills College in October.

Performances

The work Apparent Horizon was presented in a 2002 Concert of Electroacoustic and Multimedia Works by Women Composers, Florida International University, Miami, FL; it was later featured at the 2003 Technosonics Computer Music Festival at the University of Virginia. Fluid Dynamics was heard at Synthèse 2003, the 3rd Festival International des Musiques et Créations Electroniques, in Bourges, France. System Test (fire and ice) was presented at SEAMUS, Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ. Jordan Belson's film Bardo, which uses Payne's Moir , was seen during the KINETICA 3 tour, The National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.
