as published in PAN PIPES, Volume 96, Number 2

Ralph R. Guenther

Ralph R. Guenther, Professor Emeritus (flute and theory-composition), Texas Christian University, has lived for some years in Seattle, with his wife, Lavonne.

Performances

On November 24, 2002, a program of his music was given in Seattle. The organizer of the recital was Bonnie Blanchard, prominent flutist and teacher in Seattle. Ms. Blanchard was also soloist upon that occasion and, additionally, presented a number of her students in the performances of various solos and ensembles of flute music written and published over the past few years. The occasion was also in honor of Dr. Guenther's 88th birthday. The program included the Suite for flute alone, Improvisation for flute and piano, and Three Moods for five flutes in C, along with other solos and flute ensembles.
