The 2004 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 96, Number 2 Roger C. VogelPremieresNathan Painter introduced Oracle for solo alto flute on November 25, 2002, at Elon (NC) University. Twilight Reflections was presented December 4 by Philip Snyder and Lisa Bartholow at the University of Georgia. The Georgia Woodwind Quartet premiered Winter Winds on March 7, 2003, at the Southwestern Composers League Forum at the University of Georgia. Concerto for Trumpet and Winds was performed by Edward Sandor, trumpet, and the University of Georgia Wind Symphony, April 17. PerformancesOracle received another performance by Angela Jones Reus, alto flute, February 28, 2003, The College Music Society Southern Annual Meeting at the University of South Florida, Tampa. Winter Song was presented by the Otterbein Vocal Ensemble, conducted by Craig Johnson; with Kemmerle Boehm and Julie Harris, flutes; and Timothy Huffman, piano; at the May 5 "Old Links to New Music: A Festival of Contemporary Music at Otterbein College," Columbus, OH. Also heard on the same concert was "Grandpa's Beard" from Burma Shave Songs, as performed by the Otterbein Men's Glee Club, conducted by David Price; with Brian Snedeker, saxophone; and Timothy Huffman, piano. Quartet for Saxophones was performed August 2, by the Maxama Quartet at the Sixkiyou Saxophone Workshop, Southern Oregon University, Ashland, OR. Trio for Violin, 'Cello, and Piano was heard September 16 in a performance by violinist Michael Heald, cellist David Starkweather, and pianist Liana Embovica-Rivkin, University of Georgia, Athens.
