The 2004 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 96, Number 2 William CopperPremieresThe Chamber Choir of Grand Rapids, conducted by Larry G. Biser, premiered two works by William Copper on April 26, 2003: Lovelife Dances and New Lovelife Dances. The works Sea Love; Sea Fever; Water, Water Everywhere; and A Wet Sheet and a Flowing Sea were heard throughout April, May and June, as performed by high school students from a consortium of commissioning schools: Alpena (MI) High School, Jeanne Rasmussen, conductor; Auburn (NY) High School, Stephen A. Stomps, conductor; Beloit (WI) Memorial High School, Cheryl Licary, conductor; and the University of Southern Indiana, Daniel R. Craig, conductor. Piano was presented June 1, by the Piedmont Choirs, under the direction of Bruce C. Lengacher. PerformancesO Magnum Mysterium, was heard December 12, 2002, in Schwetzingen, Germany, as performed by the Quattro Forte, conducted by Julia Pruy. The New Jersey Choral Society, under the direction of Brenda Leach, performed Milenberg on March 21. Flow Forth, Abundant Tears, was heard April 20 at Alverno College; while Sea Songs was presented June 1, by the Lauda! Chamber Singers, Charles Walker, conductor. Lovelife Dances was performed May 6 by students from the State University of New York, New Paltz, under the direction of Edward Lundergan.
