The 2005 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 97, Number 2 Edward KnightPremieresNight of the Comets Suite for Orchestra, as arranged by David Beasley, was introduced on April 15, 2004, in a performance by the Oklahoma City (OK) University Orchestra, under the direction of Mark Parker. On August 27, Raven was presented by Chad Burrow, clarinet, and David Steffens, marimba, Oklahoma City University. Cradle of Dreams (text by M. J. Alexander) premiered in a September 24 concert by the Oklahoma City University Chorus and Orchestra. PerformancesLife is Fine, for soprano and piano, was performed April 25, 2004, by soprano Yael Zvi, in Oklahoma City, and by soprano Marnie Breckenridge on May 7, Old First Church, San Francisco, CA. Two orchestral works, The Golden Spike and Night of the Comets, were heard on a Tour of China May 12-23, in the following cities: Tianjin, Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, and Guangzhou. Clarinetist Chad Burrow and pianist Amy I-Lin presented Romance for Clarinet and Piano on May 15, at Oklahoma City University.
