The 2005 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 97, Number 2 Gay Holmes Spears*Gay Holmes Spears continues on the faculty at Webster University in St. Louis and is the organist for the Bonhomme Presbyterian Church in Chesterfield, MO. She presented a keyboard recital of sacred compositions titled “Hymns and Spiritual Songs” in October 2004; she also received another consecutive ASCAP Award for 2004-2005. PremieresA Festal Psalm for chorus and organ was introduced in June 2004 by the Bonhomme Chancel Choir, under the direction of Lynn Packwood, with the composer at the organ, at Bonhomme Presbyterian Church in Chesterfield, MO. The chamber orchestra work Music for a Wedding, and various other compositions for the wedding of Zeke Shotts and Laura Treece, were first heard in May 2004, as conducted by Neale Bartee, in Paragould, AR. PerformancesConversations for Woodwind Quintet was performed in February 2004 by the Equinox Chamber Players at Webster University, St. Louis, MO. Tapestries was also presented in February by the University of Georgia Chamber Winds, under the direction of John Culvahouse, at the University of Georgia, Athens.
