Harold Blumenfeld

Harold Blumenfeld writes, “This has been a very productive time, coming right after the New York City Opera’s showcasing of my two-act opera Borgia Infami in New York in 2003.” A featured part of the sesquicentennial celebration by Washington University, St. Louis, MO, was the April 25, 2004, premiere of For Sion! - Oh Thee, a choral cycle in five parts (after Byron). John Stewart led the Washington University Choir in the performance, which was accompanied by cellist Elizabeth MacDonald, clarinetist Paul Garritson, and pianist Sandra Geary.

Premieres

Songs of Cassis, for medium voice and piano, was first heard in a January 28, 2004, performance by baritone Matthew Carey and pianist Joy Fiala, at Arkansas State University, Jonesboro.
