Premieres

Three Sketches for piccolo and piano was introduced August 16, 2004, in a performance by Wilfred Kujala and Walter Morales at the National Flute Association Convention, Nashville, TN; the pieces Winter Spirits, flutist Rebekah Bruce, and Three For Eight, Brigham Young Flute Choir, were also heard. The premiere of Two Dances for flute and bayan, was given by the commissioning artists Lars Asbjornsen and Mirjana Petercol on October 10 in Seattle, WA. Peace is Not the Absence of War was premiered December 3 by the Davidson Singers, conducted by Virginia Davidson at the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church, New York, NY.

Performances

Kokopeli was performed by Ann Erwin on June 11, 2004, at the Third Santa Barbara (CA) Chamber Music Festival, and will be heard again March 5, 2005, as performed by Emily Stanek on a Rhinebeck Chamber Music Society Recital, Church of the Messiah, Rhinebeck, NY. Dances and Variations for flute and harp was presented September 19 by Katherine McClure and Elaine Christie in a performance which included choreographed dancers at Nassau Presbyterian Church, Princeton, NH. Eleni: A Greek Tragedy was performed October 9 by the Plymouth (MI) Symphony under the direction of Nan Washburn. Central American Songs for mezzo-soprano, flute, percussion, and piano, was presented November 14 by Downtown Music Productions, St. Mark’s Church, New York, NY. El Andalus for cello and piano, will be presented April 19-20, 2005, by Sharon Robinson and Joseph Kalichstein at the 92nd Street Young Man’s Hebrew Association (YMHA), New York, NY.
