Michael Kurek

An excerpt of Michael Kurek’s Fairy Dreams (Concertino for Celesta and Orchestra) was broadcast on NPR’s “Morning Edition” in a story about the celesta. Premieres

Solemn and Heroic Processional was first heard October 21, 2004, at the “Octubafest” national tuba conference held in Nashville, TN; it will also be heard at the U.S. Army Band Tuba Conference in January 2005, as performed by the Vanderbilt University Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble. Pas de deux was introduced November 5-6, 2004, by the Nashville (TN) Ballet.

Performances

That Which Remains Unspoken was performed in March 2004 by the Jackson (TN) Symphony Orchestra. The Blair Woodwind Quintet presented Matisse Impressions on November 1.
